Hannah Nunez, a Bloomberg Arts Internship (BAI) alumnus from Summer 2024, was featured as a welcome speaker at the Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB) 2025 Fall Benefit event. The annual fundraiser invites many prominent figures in the arts, cultural, and civic community in Boston, and the event’s John Kleshinski Honoree featured Frieda Garcia, a long-standing civic rights and social justice leader. At the event, CMCB raised funds for the development and construction of a new music school in Nubian Square, the heart of Roxbury’s Cultural District, expanding equitable access to music education in the community.

CMCB currently works in collaboration with the EdVestors’ BAI staff to provide direct service to BAI interns as well as serves as a worksite for the BAI program, building on their established, longtime partnership with EdVestors and Boston Public Schools, and their strong commitment to Creative Youth Development. CMCB provides BAI interns the opportunity to invest in their future, paving pathways into the arts and cultural workforce.

Hannah Nunez, an aspiring music therapist and current Youth Employee at CMCB, has had the opportunity to shadow music therapists in different settings, and working at CMCB has “played a vital role in both” her personal and career growth. Hannah was an intern during the BAI Summer 2024 program in Boston, and she was placed at the Handel and Haydn Society. She mentioned that she initially wanted to work in healthcare, but because of her experiences during the summer, she was able to realize her true musical and artistic potential. Many professional development and curriculum days were hosted at the Berklee College of Music, where Hannah is currently studying. Hannah and her peers formed a band during the program and performed at the BAI Boston Summer 2024 Final Celebration at Berklee. She was an active and communicative presence, naturally rising to the role of a leader and mentor, motivating and encouraging fellow BAI interns to follow suit.

Hannah is a strong example of what is possible in the BAI program. She leveraged her time, network, and community to achieve both her personal and professional goals. Despite Hannah having important homework assignments to attend to on the night of the event, she successfully introduced and welcomed the event as the first speaker of the night while her colleagues and friends at CMCB cheered her on.
