The British Museum: A Fundraising Plan

The British Museum

With its 250th anniversary around the corner in 2003, London’s British Museum wanted to be prepared by examining financial and fundraising opportunities. After considering several U.S.-based firms, it came to WolfBrown for assistance in developing a fundraising plan in the 1990s. Working directly with the Museum’s Director and Deputy Director, the consultants (Dr. Thomas Wolf and Jeanne Brodeur) laid out a comprehensive plan to help the British Museum expand membership, become more profitable, and close a 2% income gap through fund raising without significantly changing the way the institution does its business. The report also recommended changes both in the way the British Museum Development Trust functions and in fund-raising administration.
