Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation

Shortly after WolfBrown completed a program assessment for the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation (WRF), WRF engaged WolfBrown to shepherd the development of a new five-year strategic plan. Drawing on discussions they facilitated at a retreat of the Board, and working with the Foundation’s Governance Committee, the consultants prepared a draft plan and took it through an iterative process that resulted in approval five months later. WolfBrown identified issues worthy of Committee and full Board discussion, facilitated those discussions, and conducted interviews with individual board members in the process, all to assure in-depth participation.

Presidential Search
When its president retired, the WRF engaged WolfBrown to assist the board of directors in preparing for a national search. The consultants interviewed individual members to examine, vet, and articulate their understandings of WRF’s mission, vision, culture, and procedures related to management, finances, governance, and communications so the Foundation’s fundamental values could be communicated clearly to candidates for the CEO position, and others. This information was also used to develop a CEO Profile outlining the skills and competencies a successful CEO should possess. In addition, WolfBrown assisted the board in finding and selecting a search firm.
