Middletown, Connecticut Commission on the Arts
Through concerted effort over the past ten years, this small city’s downtown has been revitalized. A multiplex movie theatre, art galleries, ethnic restaurants, and the renovation of an old public school into a state-of-the-art community arts center are among the highlights. WolfBrown consultants conducted a short-term “pre-planning” exercise to test the City’s readiness for cultural planning. The work involved three days of interviews with cultural and community leaders, a review of material about Middletown’s cultural organizations, and an examination of local and regional demographic data. An assessment report was submitted to be used by community leaders to determine whether or not to conduct a full-scale planning process.
